Christoph Fisser, COO of Studio Babelsberg and co-producer:
“It’s fantastic that the world premiere of The Grand Budapest Hotel will take place at the Berlinale. The collaboration with Wes Anderson and his team was unique and we are very proud of the film. Our film crew and set construction team have turned Anderson’s visions and ideas into reality, in particular the film sets with attention to detail and elaborate production design. With the art nouveau department store in Görlitz, built in 1913, we found the perfect backdrop for the main hotel set. The Berlinale audience can look forward to a great film with many stars”.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is a UK-German co-production, produced by Grand Budapest Limited (UK) and Studio Babelsberg (Germany). Wes Anderson, Scott Rudin, Steven M. Rales and Jeremy Dawson are the producers. Christoph Fisser, Charlie Woebcken and Henning Molfenter from Studio Babelsberg are the executive producers.

The Grand Budapest Hotel was funded by the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg as well as Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (UK/Germany) recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune - all against the backdrop of a suddenly and dramatically changing continent.

In addition to starring Ralph Fiennes and Tony Revolori in the lead roles, the film also features F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Tom Wilkinson and Owen Wilson.

Fox Searchlight Pictures will release The Grand Budapest Hotel in US cinemas on March 7, 2014. In Europe, the film will open in cinemas from February through March 2014.
