Fifth Film Production in 2008 for Studio Babelsberg

At Studio Babelsberg, shooting starts today for “Pandorum” with Dennis Quaid (Constantin Film/Impact Pictures). Christian Alvart stages the next generation claustrophobic thriller in a total of 3 studios. The Studio Babelsberg Art Department was tasked with the complete set construction.

“Pandorum” is already the fifth production realised at Studio Babelsberg this year, besides "The Reader", "Hilde" and "Crash Point Berlin" .

“It’s great to see how quickly the German film industry has made the leap into the international league. “Pandorum” is an international project with German origins. We are pleased, beyond all measure, to be able to welcome Constantin Film as producers with their first class cast and team”, commented Dr. Carl Woebcken, Chief Executive Officer at Studio Babelsberg.
Content: On board a giant space ship, astronauts Payton and Bower wake up after a deep sleep – not knowing where they are and without any memory. How long were they asleep for?  Where are they and what is their mission? Left to their own devices, they don’t have much time to find the answers to their questions. The energy system of the space ship is about to collapse. Bower makes his way to the bridge through the narrow, gloomy air vents – their only chance of escaping death in the dark vast-ness. He crawls into the pitch-black night, going deeper and deeper. Bower can only contact Payton by radio. But it’s not long before they realise that they’re not alone on the ship! A bitter fight for survival and the future begins – theirs and that of the whole of humanity…

An international star-studded cast was acquired for the high-budget science fiction thriller “Pan-dorum”: In the lead roles, Hollywood star Dennis Quaid ("The Day After Tomorrow") and newcomer Ben Foster (“Todeszug nach Yuma”, “X-Men – The Last Stand”) have to fear for their lives and the survival of humanity. Christian Alvert, highly acclaimed since his debut “Antibodies”, is the director. He wrote the script for the murky suspense thriller together with Travis Millroy. “Pandorum” is pro-duced by the successful trio behind the spectacular “Resident Evil” films - Robert Kulzer, Jeremy Bolt and Paul W. S. Anderson.

Other roles are played by the martial arts world champion Cung Le as well as the newcomer and this year’s MTV Award winner Cam Gigandet (“The Fighters”; “Twilight”). The German cast includes Wotan Wilke Möhring (“Antibodies”; “The Experiment") and André M. Hennicke (“Antibodies”; “Downfall”). The female lead role is taken by newly discovered German, Antje Traue, who will feature alongside Bower (Ben Foster) in her role as the tough Nadia.
