Art Department Studio Babelsberg designs "Transformers" Premiere in Berlin

The guests attending the premiere of the movie Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen on Sunday at Sony Center in Berlin will have the opportunity to admire a professional construction of the Art Department Studio Babelsberg craftsmen. In addition to classic promotion walls, the constructors built a huge Transformers-mask for the foyer and the press area, where cast and crew of the latest Paramount production are expected, including director and producer Michael Bay and the leading actors Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf. The concept was drawn up by designer Tino Schaedler, Joris Hamann acted as Babelsberg’s architect in charge. About 20 craftsmen were working on the project during the last days.

Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen is the third co-operation of Art Department Studio Babelsberg and event-planning agency Chest of Wonders, assigned by distributor Paramount.

The Art Department Studio Babelsberg is the creative and technical heart of the Studio, the unit that moves a project’s production design from planning through execu¬tion. This business unit consists of a carpentry, a molding and painting workshop and a locksmith’s workshop as well as prep and pre-construction ar¬eas in immediate proximity to our sound stages. The Art Department carries on Studio Babelsberg's grand tradition of film architecture, a tradition that reaches all the way back to films such as Metropolis and The Blue Angel. In 2008, the Art Department was responsible for the set construc¬tion including Ninja Assassin, The Reader, Pandorum, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Roman Polanski’s The Ghost. In addition, the Art Department continues to acquire numerous jobs from theater companies, trade show exhibitions, hotels, event planners and advertising productions.
