Following Jörg Bachmaier’s recent appointment as CEO, Studio Babelsberg is announcing another strategic addition: producer Marcus Loges will assume the role of Managing Director for Studio Babelsberg AG subsidiaries focused on production services and co-productions as of January 1, 2025. He will succeed Henning Molfenter, who is leaving the company at the end of his contract.
Marcus Loges will oversee international business as well as German and European co-productions and production services, working closely with Jörg Bachmaier and other members of the management team, in particular Eike Wolf, responsible for studio operations and the acquisition of German and international clients, and Michael Düwel, Managing Director of Art Department Studio Babelsberg GmbH, which offers extensive services in the field of set construction and decoration.
Marcus Loges will report directly to the board of directors of Studio Babelsberg AG, which includes Jörg Bachmaier (CEO), Ashley Rice, Eoin Egan, and Keith Gee.
Marcus Loges has been working in the film industry for over 30 years, producing German and international TV and film productions. He started out as a freelance unit manager and production manager, later becoming a line producer and producer. Loges was honored as a producer for the Netflix series THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT with the Golden Globe, the Primetime Emmy Award and the PGA Award. At Studio Babelsberg, he has worked on productions including ENEMY AT THE GATES (directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud), THE BOURNE SUPREMACY (Paul Greengrass), V FOR VENDETTA (James McTeigue), ANONYMOUS (Roland Emmerich), CLOUD ATLAS (Lana and Lilly Wachowski, Tom Tykwer), SENSE 8 (Lana and Lilly Wachowski), A HIDDEN LIFE (Terrence Malick), and most recently BABYLON BERLIN (Henk Handloegten, Achim von Borries, Tom Tykwer).
