Studio Babelsberg co-production VISITATION (HEIMSUCHUNG) by Volker Schlöndorff celebrates its world premiere in Cannes

The Studio Babelsberg co-production VISITATION (HEIMSUCHUNG – EINE JAHRHUNDERTGESCHICHTE) by director Volker Schlöndorff celebrates its world premiere at the 79th Cannes International Film Festival in the “Cannes Première” section. The film by Oscar-winning Volker Schlöndorff was filmed last year on location in Brandenburg and at Studio Babelsberg.

HEIMSUCHUNG – EINE JAHRHUNDERTGESCHICHTE is the film adaptation of Jenny Erpenbeck’s international bestseller “Heimsuchung” and tells the story of Germany’s past from 1920 to the fall of the Berlin Wall through the lens of a house and its residents in Brandenburg. The film’s star-studded cast includes Martina Gedeck, Susanne Wolff, Lars Eidinger, Michael Maertens, Detlev Buck, Angela Winkler, and Ulrich Matthes.
The feature film is a production by Regina Ziegler (Ziegler Film) and Volker Schlöndorff (Volksfilm), in co-production with STUDIOCANAL, Studio Babelsberg, and Mideu Films. The co-producers from Studio Babelsberg are Jörg Bachmaier and Marcus Loges. The broadcast partners are ZDF and arte. The film was funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB), the federal government’s jury-based cultural film funding program (BKM), the German Federal Film Board (FFA), the Central German Media Fund (MDM), and the German Film Fund (DFFF).
The film will be released in German theaters on October 15 by STUDIOCANAL.
