After spectacular box office success of Lilly the Witch – The Dragon and the Magic Book, producers Corinna Mehner and Martin Husmann from blue eyes Fiction and Michael Coldewey from TRIXTER continue their successful collaboration on Lilly the Witch – The Journey to Mandolan (working title). The second part, full of Lilly’s new, exciting adventures, is co-produced by Danny Krausz from Dor Film (Austria), Julia Steinweg from Steinweg Emotion Pictures (Spain), Thomas Menne and Justyna Müsch from Buena Vista International Filmproduction as well as Babelsberg Film. The extensive shooting began today at Babelsberg’s stages, at the end of September the crew will move to India.

In a faraway oriental kingdom Mandolan a new king is to be chosen. Because of a curse over the throne, vizier Guliman (Jürgen Tarrach) cannot succeed to the crown and wants the little witch Lilly (Alina Freund) to help him with her magic spells. But as soon as Lilly and her loyal companion, dragon Hektor, arrive to Mandolan they discover that Guliman, greedy for power, wasn’t quite honest with them. By order of the mighty vizier the true king Nandi was captured by an evil wizard Abrasch (Ercan Durmaz). The brave witch Lilly, accompanied by Hektor and a clever Bedouin boy Masa (Tanay Chheda), go on an adventurous journey to save Mandolan…

Lilly the Witch – The Dragon and the Magic Book fascinated more than 1.2 million Lilly-fans at German cinemas. Fans can look forward to meeting young star Alina Freund as Lilly again, Anja Kling as Lilly's mother, Pilar Bardem as Surulunda and, of course, the CGI animated dragon Hektor. The cast was joined by Jürgen Tarrach (The Reader) as vizier Guliman and Tanay Chheda as Musa (Slumdog Millionaire). Shooting will take place from August 18, until October 24, 2009.
