Our Commitment
As a company with a long tradition we are aware of our social and cultural responsibility. Studio Babelsberg’s multifaceted corporate commitment focuses on supporting young talents and upcoming filmmakers.
Since 2008, Studio Babelsberg has been the main partner of the SHOOTING STARS programme of the European Film Promotion. Every year at the Berlinale, Studio Babelsberg presents the ten best European newcomer actors. In 2011, Alexander Fehling (Inglourious Basterds) became the German Shooting Star.
Studio Babelsberg partners with the Film and Television University “Konrad Wolf” and the Babelsberger Filmgymnasium. We work closely with both institutions in the fields of education as well as on events to improve our local commitment.
We support the film festival sehsüchte, the largest international student film festival in Europe and meeting point for upcoming international filmmakers. Every year Studio Babelsberg presents the best acting award: www.sehsuechte.de.
Moreover, we support selected newcomer projects and invest reference-subsidies, granted for our involvement in international co-productions, in German film productions: Co-productions.
