Internships / Trainee Positions

Placements may only be carried out when they must be completed as part of school-based training or a practical apprenticeship, or if their completion must be certified as a prerequisite for applying for an apprenticeship or course of study.
Placements are limited to a period of three months. No payment is offered for placements.

School placements can only be completed during the periods of February to April and September to November in the following areas:

• in the decorative construction studios for carpentry, painting/surface decoration, metal construction and plastering;

• in the props room;

• in the costumes room;

School placement students may only carry out simple supporting tasks.

Placements as part of a course of study or apprenticeship may be completed in the above areas as well as the following areas:

• in the costume studio; university placement students may carry out tasks either in the tailor studio or costumes room depending on their prior knowledge.

• in make-up, but only if prior knowledge is available, for example training in hairstyling.

• in organisation, administration and logistics in the film industry (three-month placement only). The placement student will gain an insight into the fields of project acquisition, project preparation, finance, film subsidising and accounting. He/she will have the opportunity to play a supportive role in a normal working day in the office.
  Very good knowledge of written and spoken English are a requirement for this area.

A certificate demonstrating the absolute requirement of the placement must always be enclosed/attached to placement applications.
